The Best Ways to Store Winter Clothes: Tips & Tricks

Homestrap Official.Mar 05, 2025
Winter is over, but the mess it leaves behind in your closet is just beginning. Puffy jackets, thick blankets, and chunky sweaters take up more space than you realize—until you’re struggling to shut your cupboard doors. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the task of storing your winter clothes, you’re not alone. Wrinkled fabrics, musty odors and overstuffed shelves can make the seasonal switch overwhelming. But don’t worry—there’s a way to simplify the process! With a few smart storage solutions and space-saving hacks, you can neatly pack away your winter essentials while keeping your closet fresh, organized and ready for the next season. Here’s how you can store your winter clothes efficiently without any hassle. ❓ How can I store winter clothes without taking up too much space? ✔ Use Vacuum Storage Bags – These bags compress bulky winter essentials like coats, sweaters and blankets, freeing up valuable closet space while protecting clothes from dust, moisture, and pests. ✔ Opt for Stackable Storage Solutions – Maximize vertical space with stackable Living Boxes that keep your wardrobe organized and clutter-free. These are perfect for neatly storing folded winter garments without overcrowding your shelves. ✔ Utilize Underbed Storage Bags – Make the most of unused space by keeping underbed storage beneath your bed. These are ideal for keeping seasonal clothing accessible yet out of sight, ensuring a tidy and spacious closet. ❓ What’s the best way to store sweaters and coats? ✔ Fold Instead of Hanging – Wool and knitted sweaters can lose their shape when hung for long periods. Instead, fold them neatly and store them in breathable fabric storage bags or stackable organizers to prevent stretching and keep them dust-free. ✔ Choose the Right Hangers – For heavy winter coats like wool, trench, or puffer jackets, use wide, sturdy wooden hangers to maintain their shape and prevent shoulder bumps. For lighter jackets or synthetic fabrics, a strong plastic hanger can also work, but avoid thin wire hangers as they can cause stretching or distortion over time. ✔ Use Transparent Window Storage Bags – One of the biggest storage mistakes is not being able to see what’s inside. Opt for storage bags with clear windows to quickly identify what's stored where, so you don’t have to rummage through multiple bags when winter rolls around again. ✔ Pick Bags with Handles for Easy Portability – Another overlooked factor? Handles! When choosing storage bags, go for ones with sturdy handles to make carrying and stacking effortless. This is especially useful if you’re storing coats and sweaters in overhead spaces, under the bed, or moving them between rooms. ❓ How do I keep my winter clothes fresh for next season? ✔ Wash & Dry Clothes Before Storing – Dirt, sweat, and moisture can invite pests and odors. Ensure your winter clothes are washed and completely dry before packing them away. ✔ Replace Mothballs with Better Alternatives – Mothballs often leave behind a strong, unpleasant odor. Instead, use cedarwood, dried lavender, bay leaves or moisture-absorbing sachets to keep pests away, prevent mold, and maintain a fresh scent in your stored clothes. ✔ Store in a Cool, Dry Place – Avoid attics or damp cabinets or basements. Instead, use a closet or storage area with consistent temperature and low humidity. ✔ Check Clothes Periodically – Every few months, inspect your stored winter clothes for any signs of pests or moisture buildup. Store Smart, Stay Organized Proper winter clothes storage ensures your garments stay in excellent condition while saving space. By following these tips and using the right storage solutions, you can effortlessly transition between seasons without the hassle of damaged or musty clothing.

Hacks to Make Saree Storage and Care Easier

Homestrap Official.Feb 18, 2025
Folding Hacks Do you notice creases developing in your sarees? Has the zari work or embellishments started to tear off? But no worries, with proper folding techniques, you can keep the creases and damage away. Keep butter paper between the folds of the sarees to prevent friction, protect embellishments, and act as a cushion to avoid creases. Every 3-4 months, unfold the sarees and fold them in the opposite direction to prevent permanent build-up of creases, especially for delicate fabrics like linen and silk. Do not hang the sarees with heavy embellishments as the weight can lead to further distortion. Especially for kanjivarams or sarees with intricate zari work, folding them inside out can protect the delicate surface. Storage Hacks Sometimes, sarees get tangled together, colours get transferred, or the embellishments snag on each other. Here’s how to avoid that: For silk, Banarasi, and Kanjivaram sarees, it is best to store them in a cotton saree cover by Homestrap. Cotton ensures breathability and is soft, so the zari or the fabric will not be damaged, The transparent window in the cover will let you find out the right saree at a glance. The zipless design prevents accidental damage to the saree. Heavy work sarees require more space when folded. For such sarees, go for saree covers with a height of 3 inches. The saree wil fit in the cover very easily without any damage to the work.  Store only one saree in each saree cover bag to prevent damage to the work or colour transfer. For sarees made of lighter fabrics like georgette and chiffon and have lighter work, use Homestrap Single saree covers.  Storing each saree in a saree organizer makes care easier but the wardrobe gets messy when you try to take out one saree. Add sarees into individual covers and then into a large saree cover by Homestrap based on the category. The large storage cover has a transparent window, so it will be easier to find the right saree. Organisation Hacks for Easy Access Do you have a shared wardrobe and it is tricky to keep everything organized? Keeping sarees, blouses, and petticoats in different covers increases the work?   Dedicate separate sections for each clothing piece when you have a shared wardrobe. You can hang the sarees that you wear regularly for easy access.  If you want to store the saree, blouse, and petticoat together, you can use a hanging saree cover with pockets for both to easily organise the complete attire in one place. Hacks to Prevent Moisture or Insects Imagine pulling out your favourite saree only to find it damaged by mould or insects. Here’s how you can prevent such nightmares: Add sachets containing dried neem leaves, cloves, or camphor to keep insects away. Use silica gel sachets or moisture absorber packs to keep moisture out and prevent mould. Remember to air out your sarees every 2-3 months to keep them fresh. Wrapping Up With these hacks, your favourite sarees will remain beautiful for long. So, there will be no more shocks of your favourite saree getting damaged even before you have worn it infinite times. Also, you can get the right product to solve your saree organisation concerns at Homestrap. Explore the collection now.

Simple Hacks for a Perfectly Organised Wardrobe

Homestrap Official.Dec 28, 2024
Kahi bhi jaate waqt mere kapde milte kyu nahi hai? If this is you, do not miss this. Your wardrobe is filled with a huge pile of clothes and there is no space to keep anything. And you also do not want to part with any of them; obviously, har piece ke saath emotions attached hain! "Oh, this one is so beautiful," "I bought this one with my first salary,” — endless reasons not to throw them. Toh phir sab kaise rakhun ek hi wardrobe mein? Well, with a few simple hacks, organising your wardrobe will no longer be chaotic. Plus, no more morning chaos trying to find what you need! Wardrobe Organisation Hacks Finding the right clothes can be chaotic, sometimes you may end up with a completely different look than planned. And when you are in a time crunch, you may end up with a mismatched one because you could not find anything and wore whatever you could see. To avoid this, here are some tips on how to organise your wardrobe to maintain organisation and visibility in your wardrobe. Categorise Everything One hack to free up a lot of space in your wardrobe is categorising. First, divide all your clothes based on the season. Now, keep all the off-season clothes in vacuum bags or storage organisers and keep them on the upper shelves. Once you’ve separated the seasonal clothes, go a step further and organize by occasion—party wear, casual, and work attire. Then, categorize by type (shirts, trousers, sarees, etc.), and by colour for easy access. Keep the clothes that you do not wear regularly at the back or on the lower shelves. Stack the Clothes To not miss noticing that cute top in the huge pile, stacking the clothes is an easy way. Now, you might be thinking that when you stack, taking out the clothes becomes quite messy. You pick one piece and the next moment, the whole stack is on your feet and the work is doubled.  Worry not. With some easy stacking tips, you can maintain organization with ease. Use Homestrap Stack It Up for storing regular-wear clothes like shirts and t-shirts. For jeans and trousers, garment grids are the perfect choice. Wardrobe organizer boxes help separate each category, make everything clearly visible, and ensure the clothes stay in position, preventing damage while keeping each section well-maintained. Confused about how to fold jeans? Check the hacks here. Use Vertical Space There are some clothes like kurtas, dupattas, and such pieces that if stacked will become a hidden treasure found only when every cloth is pulled out of the wardrobe or can create a mess when folded. So, it is better to hang them. 5-in-1 hangers or layered hangers by Homestrap let you organise in minimum space while also keeping everything in one place. Use them for shirts, jackets, and dresses. For ties, belts, and scarves, use multi-hook hangers.  Check this out to learn some simple hanger hacks. Pay Special Attention to Delicate Clothes Maintaining clothes with delicate embellishments and fabrics can be challenging, but with some extra care, you can preserve their beauty. Store sarees, lehengas, suits, blazers, and other heavy clothes in dedicated saree covers, lehenga covers, and blazer covers to prevent damage from friction, moisture, and dust.  Dedicated Organisers for Smaller Stuff and Handbags Undergarments, jewellery, and socks can easily get lost between clothes if not organized. Undergarment organizers keep underwear, bras, handkerchiefs, and socks separated and accessible. A jewellery organizer ensures necklaces, earrings, cuff links, and other accessories stay untangled and easy to find. For handbags, use a handbag Hangease by Homestrap to maintain their shape and material while ensuring quick access. Note: If we can get an image covering all 3 products, the impact would be better. Wrapping Up By following the simple hacks above, keeping your wardrobe organised will be easier. But it’s important to maintain a system. Label each stacker by category and ensure that clothes go back into their designated piles after use. To avoid mixing laundry with clean clothes, keep a laundry bag near your wardrobe.  Homestrap provides unique home organising solutions made to meet your specific needs. Lingerie Organisation Made Simple: Easy Hacks

Homestrap Official.Dec 28, 2024
We all love dressing up and experimenting with different looks, but the wrong lingerie can completely ruin an outfit, taking away the excitement and confidence in an instant. And finding the right lingerie in a messy drawer, especially when you're in a hurry, feels like a never-ending treasure hunt that only makes you late and results in a lot of mental stress. You may try organising your lingerie, but within a day or two, it’s back to being a tangled mess.  But let me tell you, with some easy lingerie drawer organization hacks and a good lingerie organizer, you can keep the lingerie collection in place. Divide the Lingerie into Categories Your lingerie drawer is full of variety: bras, panties, shapewear, camisoles, socks, and more. Some are for special occasions, while others are your everyday go-to. Start by dividing your lingerie into categories based on occasion. Separate them by type (like padded bras, unpadded bras, strapless bras, boyshorts, thongs etc.) and further organize them by fabric or colour. This will make it easier to grab what you need without creating a chaotic mess in the process. Storage Hacks Organizing your lingerie into neat stacks in a corner of your drawer might seem like a good idea, but it doesn’t take long for the mess to creep back. So, what is the solution then?  Let us find out. Keep Your Bras & Panties Neat You have padded bras, unpadded bras, bras with delicate fabric, bras with detachable straps, strapless bras, thongs, and a lot more. When just kept on a shelf or stack, there are chances that the cups may distort, the underwires are damaged, delicate fabrics are snagged and torn, the elastic is too stretched, and nothing is in place. An undergarment organizer by Homestrap will help you keep them in place and maintain the structure. Instead of folding or nesting the cups, store padded bras side by side after fastening the clasps in large sections of the organizer to prevent distortion or damage. For delicate fabrics, like lace or satin, roll them carefully and place soft tissue between the folds to prevent snags or wrinkles. Roll panties and unpadded bras neatly to avoid stretching the elastic. Store them in small compartments of the organizer to keep them tidy.;lk Keep the bra attachments like suspenders, straps, and others in a separate pouch to prevent tangling. Check this out to learn the hacks for neat lingerie storage. Keep Camisoles, And Socks, And Shapewear Tiny items like socks tend to go missing, and shapewear can lose its elasticity if not stored correctly. Use a compartmentalised organizer to prevent chaos. Roll your socks into neat bundles and store each pair in individual compartments. Similarly, roll camisoles and shapewear and shape them neatly before placing them in the organizer. Pack Smart When Travelling Packing lingerie for a trip can feel like a puzzle. You carefully plan outfits with matching undergarments, only to find them damaged or misshapen after the journey. A travel lingerie organizer from Homestrap is the perfect solution to this problem. These organizers can hold 4–6 bras and 4–7 panties securely, with a waterproof pocket for storing wet intimates separately. Wrapping Up Keeping your lingerie organized and in good condition isn’t as daunting as it seems. You just have to follow a few simple tips and they will always be ready to give you that confidence to slay every look. The smart and stylish organization solutions from Homestrap are designed to simplify home organisation. Check the website now.
